Condo, House Or Duplex -- Which Golf Course Homes Are A Smarter Buy?

Golf course communities are becoming increasingly popular for the added luxuries and conveniences they add to daily life. You can live in the mountains with West Yellowstone real estate, live by the ocean in Florida, or enjoy prairie life in Oregon. No matter where you look at golf course homes, however, there is one common thread. Condos or apartments, single family homes, and even duplexes are everywhere and you need to decide what type of home is best for you.

Single Family House

Golf course homes in the form of a detached house give you the privacy and luxuries of your own property without having to live on top of your neighbors. You can enjoy gardening, have a gathering, putter in the garage, or just enjoy the sunshine in your own backyard. That is when you aren't playing your favorite game.

Purchasing a house in one of your favorite golf course communities does have its downsides. Along with the added privacy and freedom to roam, it costs significantly more in initial cost and annual upkeep. Depending on where you live, you may also have lawn and garden chores, snow to shovel, and external upkeep on the home itself.

Duplex

While not offering you the same level of freedom and privacy, duplexes in golf course communities still give you some space and possibly even a small yard to go with it. Many find them more comfortable than a condo. Generally, they also carry a smaller price tag, which enables families with smaller budgets to enjoy golf course homes. Because there is no one beneath you or above you, these are also helpful with those who still have small children. Many families purchase one and rent out the other side to help cut costs even further.

Like anything, however, they still have a downside. First and foremost, you will notice they are difficult to find particularly in areas such as these. Secondly, because they are a rare commodity, they are not easy to purchase and can end up being even more expensive than houses as a result.

Condos

Condos can cut down on your freedom to do what you want, when you want because there are numerous throughout the country's golf course communities. You have no yard work, no general maintenance, and less expensive to heat and upkeep. This is why they are so popular with those intended to make it easier as they get older or those wanting a place to retire to.

If the developers in the area build too many of these units, the price can depreciate. The price tag can also fall because each one of these units is cardboard cutouts. These golf course homes have the added downfall of a lack of privacy. Condos will also have fees added onto them for the added amenities and upkeep of the property.

It doesn't matter whether you choose golf course homes in the mountains of West Yellowstone real estate or the sandy Florida beaches, everyone will need to make this choice. Carefully weigh the pros and cons against your own lifestyle to decide which one of these you can love.
