Copying CSS Encrypted DVD Films Is Worth The BoThersome

By: Isaiah Henry

My family is DVD movie maniacs. When a new DVD is released, we often purchase it because this saves us a lot of money in comparison to buying movie tickets for the whole family. Our collection is pretty large and it includes many genres. Of course, there are movies we rarely watch and movies we play all the time. As you guess, the DVDs from the second group soon get scratched because of the permanent use. Polishers and cleaners do help but inevitably comes the moment when our favorite disks are not usable anymore. And the worst is that at such times usually the DVD is already out of print and we cant get a spare copy. Because of this the only solution is to make the copy ourselves.

I guess we are not the only family, which has been collecting DVDs over the years and which wonders how to preserve the precious ones. Quick fixes are a temporary solution and unfortunately they cant prevent the DVDs from wearing out. Buying 2-3 copies of each favorite DVD is way too expensive. So what is the solution Nero, of course!

What a shame someone has to write a code to break through encrypted software. But, when so many people are rationalizing why making copies for friends, or for sale, will not hurt anyone, companies would go broke without some sort of preventative safeguards to keep people from ignoring the copyright laws.

My idea is that making spare copies for personal use is OK. I see that many people share this belief and the good news is that there are talented programmers (and even whole companies), who know how to break the protection codes. As a result there are several good programs, which can help you copy a protected DVD to your hard drive and from there - to a blank DVD.

If you are not familiar with the process of copying DVDs, you might wonder why you cant copy the DVD directly to a blank disk. The reason is that you need to compress the DVD first and then copy it because if you dont compress it (and remove all the junk), it will not fit on the blank disk.

Fortunately, when users copy all DVD using Nero, the headaches and discouragements are a thing of the past. With one click, people can follow the directions one step at a time, click when required, and have a usable copy like the original. Now, do not worry if a favorite video is no longer on the market. Enjoy watching it for the umpteenth time, and know a good duplicate is waiting, when the time comes for a replacement.

Copying a protected DVD is not difficult. Yes, it takes time but it is much better if you save your protected DVDs by making copies of them and be able to watch them many, many times than to lose a favorite DVD of yours. After you master copying protected DVDs, you will see that this is a great way to save your favorite movies!
