How to Find Your Inner Creative You

By: annalaura brown

Are you trying to be more creative? Are you struggling to think of more creative ideas? Here are some ideas to help you.

1- What are all the possible solutions you can think of? Make a list and don't leave anything out, no matter how ridiculous or absurd it may sound. Sometimes the most ridiculous of ideas are the best ones.

2- Turn any ideas inside out; what can you change about a certain idea that may make that particular idea more effective?

3- What problems are you trying to solve or what needs can you fill? Often problems will bring out the creativity in ways you had never before imagined.

4- Try thinking about ideas that are unrelated. If you are trying to promote a business or a product think of some ideas that have nothing to do with your business but which may help you promote your main product. For example, candles and a fitness center, or food and flowers.

5- Think about the best and worst ways to solve your problem. Make a list of the alternatives and solutions for each one. What are the advantages and disadvantages to each solution?

6- Think out of the box. What are the most outrageous ideas you can think of? Out of the box thinking has brought us some of the best inventions and ideas out there.

7- Look online for ideas. What are other people doing which is creative? How can you take ideas, which already exist and add on a new twist in order to make it work for you?

8- Ask other people for ideas, and then see how you can modify them to your needs and specifications.

9- Sleep on it. Leave a pad of paper by your bed to write down ideas. Often the best ideas come when we least expect them.

10- Try out some ideas and then see what works and what doesn't and then make some modifications. No one says that you have to keep doing the same things over and over or that you can't try something and then stop later if it doesn't work out.

11- Think about what ideas you can try which are similar to other ideas but with a twist. For example, office parties instead of home parties. Yard sales instead of flea markets etc.

If you think you aren't creative. Think again. You have more creative ability than you think. Give yourself a chance and you will be surprised what immerges.
