How to Find the Right Golf Driver for You

By: Richard Neesal

Are you wondering how to find the right golf driver to suit you? If so then you have come to the right place.

There are many different types of golf drivers to choose from. If you are a complete novice it can be extremely confusing knowing which one to actually choose. The main thing that you need to keep in mind is that it does not matter which brand of golf driver you choose. Different brands do not really tell you anything about the clubs performance. So what exactly does make one club different from the next?

What to Look for in a Driver

There are a number of things that you will need to take into account when choosing the perfect driver to suit you. These things include:

- The Shaft
- The Weight
- The Head
- The Material

The above are the main things to look at when choosing the perfect driver. Each will come in a style to suit you, but you first need to focus on the technicalities before you can worry about the style!

The shaft in particular is something that you need to put a lot of thought into. The length of the shaft will make a huge difference into how well you play with the driver. Obviously everybody comes in different sizes and so one person's driver will not work well for another person who is of a different size. If you are six foot tall then you will find it almost impossible to play with a driver that is designed for somebody who is five foot tall! So obviously you need the shaft length to suit your height.

However, the length of the shaft isn't just important depending on your own size. The longer the shaft, the harder it is to play with it. More professional players will play with clubs that have longer shafts because it gives them faster swings due to a lack of control on the club. So if you are just starting out with gold then stick to a shorter shaft wherever possible.

The material of the driver will also make a difference as some will be heavier than others. Many golfers prefer composite drivers as they are created using both titanium and non-metal materials. This in turn makes the drivers fairly lightweight and that enables you to have better control over the swing without reducing the distance of the shot. However if money is not an issue when you are choosing your driver, titanium may be a good material choice. Titanium clubs will last years and they allow you to get some really good shots into your game. They do have the disadvantage of being the heaviest type of driver available, but generally a lot of golfers claim that they are better to play with.

There are a number of things that you need to think about before you purchase the best driver to suit your needs. Mainly you should pay attention to the shaft including the length and the flexibility of it. If you follow these tips then you should end up with the best driver to suit you.
