Top Five Things to Look for in a Car Dealership!

By: Rebecca Worthlin

Cars are a big deal. Most of us spend quite a bit of time sitting in a car; whether we're driving it, riding in it or just plain sitting in it! And in addition to the fact that we spend a large portion of our time there, it's also the second largest purchase in most people's lives. When you decide to buy a new car you've got a lot of decisions ahead of you. At San Tan Honda Superstore of Chandler we help our customers make those decisions. We definitely want to sell cars; it's the purpose of a dealership. But the method of selling the cars can vary greatly from dealership to dealership. At San Tan we want to sell cars to happy customers.

Other dealerships don't care about the "happy" so much as the sale and quick departure of car buyers. When you decide to drop by a new car dealership make sure the very first thing you do is to check out the dealership and make sure it's a good option!

As a favor to consumers who may someday want to buy a Honda while they're in Chandler, Arizona...we're willing to guide you in the right direction with a list of 5 things you should make sure your dealership offers you:

1. Nice salesmen. And not just because it's enjoyable, but because the stereotypical car salesman are actually sometimes the ones you end up with on the car lot and you won't enjoy it! A good dealership will train their sales associates to give customers a little bit of space. They might even leave you to wander into the showroom on your own and browse through the inventory a little bit before they greet you and offer to help you. This method is much more enjoyable than the tried and true drag the car buyers from their vehicles before they've even come to a full stop!

2. Make sure they have an Internet division. You're online researching right now so already know the importance and the power of knowledge prior to a purchase. Many car dealerships have full Internet departments to cater to today's online market. Take advantage of it! Access the Internet specials and expect the Internet specials to be honored at your chosen dealership!

3. We all have to put up with bossy friends, bossy parents and even bossy siblings, but you shouldn't have to put up with bossy salesmen. Some salesmen depend upon the establishment of a pattern to make the sale. They might start by getting bossy with you on irrelevant matters saying, "Wait here" or "Follow me." Be aware that they may be leading up to a "bossy" finale where they tell you what car to buy at what price. Choose a dealership who has trained their sales people to avoid such pushy maneuvers.

4. Insist on a dealership that actually listens to what you have to say. You should be able to provide them with your requirements for a new vehicle and then use them as a resource as you find exactly what you need. They shouldn't be dragging you from option to option that resembles nothing you've ever thought about purchasing.

5. And the best of all traits to find in a car dealership is honesty! If you've got a good dealership you'll know exactly what your interest rate is before you sign anything. You'll know your payment amount. Advertised specials will actually be available and you'll feel comfortable throughout the buying process.

Start your next ownership experience off on the right foot by making sure that the dealership you deal with is top notch. You'll regret it very quickly if you don't pay attention. Make the most of your money...don't just be happy with the end result. Be happy with the entire process from the moment you walk onto the lot to the moment you drive off of it!
