What Are The Benefits Of Outsourcing?

By: MIKE SELVON

When the book "The 4-Hour Workweek" hit the shelves it soon became a bit hit, especially with internet marketers, small business owners and entrepreneurs. From it they learned that they could outsource many of their daily tasks, freeing themselves up to focus on the big picture and map out additional steps for growth. With a fairly small amount of cash, an entrepreneur can get busy outsourcing many of their time consuming tasks by utilizing the skills and specialties of other people.

The basic idea behind outsourced projects is to line up other people to handle some of the daily work that needs to be done, in order to be sure the business is growing and staying current in the marketplace. In some ways, this is almost like taking on a partner in your business. Ideally, partnerships are developed because each partner brings a different strength to the organization and each person can focus on their strength and specialty rather than feeling the need to be an expert in all aspects of the business.

But with outsourcing, there is no control that is lost or shared. This loss of control which occurs in partnership agreements is often one of the reasons why entrepreneurs will try to do everything on their own. The outsourced services are either contracted directly with an individual or with a specialized company that has expertise in managing outsourced projects.

While it seems to be similar to simply hiring employees, an outsourced service is actually a different type of arrangement. Typically, an employment arrangement is considered to be a long-term or permanent position, while outsourced projects are only contracted for a very specific task and might be for a very short period of time.

Also, those workers who provide the outsource service are not considered to be employees of a company but instead they operate as independent contractors. In most cases, the outsourced workers will carry out the work from their own facilities and use their own equipment, such as computers, internet connections and whatever else is needed for the tasks at hand.

There are also many large companies that provide outsourcing services for smaller companies and for individual entrepreneurs. These outsource companies will often have quite a large staff of employees who have been specially trained to provide the specific services that their clients need.

The advantage to contracting an outsource service through one of these companies, as opposed to finding and hiring freelance workers directly, is that these companies take responsibility for screening the workers. In many instances, this means that the company runs background checks on them and the workers often do the actual work in the facilities of the company rather than from a home office setting. This allows for better quality control and assurance that the requested tasks are being done as expected.

In addition, another reason for using an outsourcing company to secure the outsourced work is to have a better assurance that the work that is paid for is done properly. Many times a freelancer will request part of the money upfront, but might never produce the work. When the work is outsourced to a company, payment is made after the work is completed.
